Seeing Stars: The Star Drop Workshop

Explore Star Drop like never before! This workshop focuses on all things stellar in aerial silks and rope. Students will learn techniques and tricks to bring their star, double-star, and star-variations to the next level.

Prerequisites: Ability to invert and wrap safely at the top throughout class. Previous experience with single-star. Strong hollow body (can hold for 1 min), willingness to learn, and solid understanding of your own limitations.

About the instructor:
Janelle is a contortionist and aerialist with an extensive dance background. She grew up as a dancer in Silicon Valley, performing and competing with Dance Effects and Shine Youth Dance Troupes. She continued to study dance at Goucher College, and upon her return to the San Francisco Bay Area, dove headfirst into the region’s vibrant circus scene. Janelle completed an apprenticeship with the Paperdoll Militia in 2013. She relocated to Denver Colorado in November, 2017. She performs regularly, and has produced showcases and professional "scratch" (experimental) shows in he San Francisco Bay Area. She is a featured performer with Oakland’s Vespertine Circus, and has embodied roles as disparate as Fair Hermia (Midsummer Night’s Circus, 2016) and Brad Majors (Rocky Horror Circus Show, 2016, 2017). Janelle has performed as a principal with MOTH Contemporary Circus' The Circus Nutcracker and Alice in Wonderland.
